Breaking Bad Habit

 

Gambling, computer games addiction, shopping to change the feeling, being too critical,  Being shy, is the least to mention as a troublesome habit.

Sometimes, having too often anger, jealousy, fear, worry, guilt, shame, regret, resentment, apprehension, frustration, sadness, shyness and likewise can become a bad habit.

After an initial short phone or e-mail consultation we schedule an in-person (or via Skype) assessment session.  But before the assessment session I send you a simple intake form to fill out and send me back by e-mail or post mail. Or, if you prefer, we fill it out together during the assessment session. However, when I have it before the assessment session it saves us a lot of time.

 

The assessment session is free of charge. During that session we have a chance to get to know each other. Then I gather information about the issue and your conscious and unconscious reactions to it. Finally, I use couple of techniques to find out if I can help you or not. The assessment also highlights how many sessions you would need. If I can help you, I describe how the process goes, how many sessions it might take and what is your investment. Then you receive answers on all your questions and make a decision.

           

We start with understanding what habit you want to have instead of unwanted one. Then we find out if the troublesome habit serves any useful outcomes that need to be respected and preserved. We spend some times to find out how you would like to act non-harmfully in the same situations but still receiving the same benefits and even more. At least we need to generate three alternative behaviors that can preserve those benefits without compromising your health or wellbeing.

 

A structure of your habit and its elements are unique, as unique is the way of breaking it. We spend some times to figure out your unique ways. Then using different techniques we break the habit and reprogram your mind to adopt a new resourceful

 

Using will power is very time and energy consuming. It is difficult but possible way of changing habit. Re-programming techniques use imagination and that makes the change process much easier, faster and even fun.

 

After breaking the troublesome habit we test the change. We might go to the places where you manifested the habit if you want and if that practically possible.

 

After we finish working you have, as a result, you habit changed into more resourceful one or it is under the control or you know how to deal with it. But there is more. The techniques you learn to deal with that particular habit are universal, they will serve you for the rest of your life and not only for breaking habits but to control your feelings and communicate better with yourself and others. These techniques will help you take under control your life and become more resilient and flexible in dealing with life challenge.
